New use for 300tdi injection pumps!

I have a work car with a VP44 pump (yes it's a Nissan) which is ****ing me off.
I have an ECU problem (which I caused) and replacement ECU's are rocking horse poo.

So I'm wondering of the feasibility of replacing a VP44 pump with a VE rotary pump. The most obvious donor for a 4 cylinder tdi pump is the 300tdi.
I have a spare (dead) VP44 pump here I can measure up. Can anyone give me the run-down on 300tdi flange and pulley/shaft attachment?

Does anyone know the max fuelling available from a 300tdi pump? cc/1000 shots?
    100cc/1000 shots would be perfect.

Just found out the Cummins 4BT VE pump has a 12mm plunger and guys there have bench-tested them to 180cc/1000 shots.

The part numbers for the 300tdi pump suggest 10mm plunger. Simple maths means *if* the plunger stroke is the same then it could do ~125cc/1000 shots.

Enough for ~500Nm if you burn it cleanly.

Newton states every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Towing a Disco 300Tdi with a tow rope and parkbrake applied could require 500Nm to be exerted by another vehicle....

To get 500Nm from it, you'd have to burn all the fuel cleanly. That'll need over 30psi boost and some serious intercooling.

I'm not aware of anyone running that much boost on a 300tdi (for many reasons). Running full fuel delivery but less boost will make smoke and all that potential power/torque going out the exhaust.

Which will also lead to really high EGT and the situation JC mentioned below.
