    Oil pressure light flickering

Took the disco up to the glow worm tunnels last month and on a couple of occasions the oil light came on and off a couple of times. Haven't really driven it much since then but hasn't happened again until today. Drove it a few Kim's to take gizmo for a walk and then him, prob 10km max, and most of the trip it flickered on and off, stayed on for a few seconds then off again etc. it's due for an oil change but has plenty of oil in it, other than glow worms it has never done it before and the motor is running fine. Is there a sensor or switch that might cause this or is it the oil pump?

Engine is a 300Tdi and was rebuilt at 270000km now has 315000km, doesn't get driven much these days as I have a car now for my daily drive.

I have had those symptoms three times on three different vehicles over the last thirty odd years.

In every case it was a faulty oil pressure switch.

Check to see if it is leaking.

Thanks mate, that's what I'm hoping. I'll check over it on the weekend and order a new one if need be.

According to the RAVE cd it's on the oil filter housing just above the oil filter. I'll do some digging around tomorrow and see what I can find.
