Can you easily test your new kits on the low beam wiring?
A couple of months ago I upgraded the low beams on my D2a to HID's, they are brilliant.
Today I tried to do the same with my high beams. Bought the kit from the same supplier in Hong Kong.
Did the LHS first and for some reason I can't get any power to the original plug that goes onto the normal H7 halogen globe. I've checked every fuse in the car and they're all fine. Where do I look next? (Low beam is still fine). Problem now is that I can't just put the original halogen back as the power problem remains.
Thought I'd give myself some 'think time' and so went on to do the RHS. Now I DO have power here but the light still won't work. I plugged the original globe back in and it still works. Not sure if I have a faulty ballast. Any ideas on how to test this?
Any ideas PLEASE!

Will try that thanks. Still doesn't solve the power problem on the LHS

Yes, you may have to get out the wiring diagram and a multi meter and test for power at various points - eg start at the fuse panel under the dash and go from there.
I would check your earth points also - there is one just near the battery. See Rave for all the details. The text explanation and connector photos in the Rave Electrical Library are excellent and not hard to follow.

You will regret going to HIDs on your Hi beams. I did on my RRS about 18 months ago and when you want hi beam in a hurry there is no light until they warm up - maybe up to 10 secs depending if from completely cold.
I am going to change back to 4300k hi output halogens so that I have instant light.
I have lots of road works locally and I often have a need to have hi beam to see through the maize - knowing the problem I try to warm up the globes before hand.

Thanks Garry, guess I'll find out, but right now a bit off topic.... I just want to get them working right now.....no offence meant

Well, I've checked power at every point I can find and nothing appears wrong except right at the bulb plug in the headlight assembly. Oh and the RHS one does have power but doesn't work....****

Are you testing with the car running ?

Is there a relay fitted drawing power directly from the battery ? If so, it may have an issue (faulty, earth, etc). Trace back from the socket along the loom.
