Did you end up swapping your lift pump? Which style do you have fitted, the pressed steel type or the cast aluminium?
How many Kms on the engine?
The ignition needs to be on to activate the stop solenoid when bleeding to the injectors.
Sounds like the solenoid is cactus.

Jboot wins. In the process of checking my shut off solenoid and just about only option left before serious stuff. I thought I would check my solenoid so I removed it and it had a few metal filings on it so I cleaned and put back in no go. So I then tried a trick I think I read on this forum about removing the shutoff plunger from solenoid and then trying to start and guess what she fired up first go drove back up the road no dramas stalled it in driveway to shut her down.
I love working on my defender but she tests you at times.
Oh and yes all air in fuel line sorted I actually removed and refit checking sealing rings on filters etc.
thanks for all the help I am a bit concerned about metal shavings on plunger though
I have had metal shavings on the magnet for nearly two years now. Every couple of months it may not turn off with the key the first time. I let it idle then try again. Usually works so I take that as a sign to unscrew the solenoid and use one of those thin magnets on a stick to fish the shards from the hole. I carry a shortened openender and magnet at all times.
I am waiting for something to happen permanently but the old girl still keeps going.

Yeh I got a cut down spanner to makes the job fairly painless. Might be time to invest in a magnet. Mines down just over 400 000km so every time something goes wrong I expect the worse but she still keeps chugging along
