    Turbo Overboost

I am having a problem with turbo overboosting. I know the cause and the fix.

My reason for this post is this.

My Nanocom diagnosed overboost of the turbo.

My question is this. Nanocom gets its info from the vehicles ECU.

As the ECU is electronic and overboost is mechanical, how does the ECU obtain the information telling it that the turbo has overboosted?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I'd say via the turbo boost modulator.

MAP (manifold absolute pressure/inlet temp sensor)

    What he said x2

Everything that is reported/acted on by the ECU has to come from a sensor. There might be a thing or two that are derived from the readings on other sensors but generally there is a sensor if it needs monitoring.

So where is the Map sensor?

The ECU uses boost calculated as manifold absolute pressure (inlet manifold) less ambient air pressure (air box) and maxes out at 1.42 bar.

You also get faults if the raw MAP reading exceeds 2.42 bar.

    Cheers
    Paul
