Gearbox
Hi all i am currently baby sitting my parents 1999 v8 discovery 2 auto. They had the front prop shaft snap shattering there gearbox $8500 later :'( its all replaced with a land rover fully refurbed gearbox from victoria with an australia wide warrenty. It has developed an issue however, it doesnt like moving u take the handbrake off throw it in drive and it acts like the handbrake is still on, sometimes its ok others its not. Land rover had a look while doing the service and said nothing wrong with it, and just adjusted it for me, its no longer as bad if u give it a bit it goes bang and lets go. While it was jammed i got out and had a look there was no movement un the rear prop shaft at all. Has anyone suffered this before?
Would prefer to do myself poor mum and dad have spent enough.
Thanks in advance all help is greatly appreciated

Shouldn't this be followed up under the warranty rather than you trying to fix it yourself?

Thats what i thought but they claim to never have touched it when i questioned the gearbox removal process and the fact the hand brake is on the prop shaft therefore needing removal to gain access to the gearbox they offered to have a look only, and it chose to not play up. I will be calling them today im paranoid of it snapping an axle mum and dad tow a 30 ft caravan i cant imagine what could happen

Don't accept excuses or sub-standard performance of a premium brand vehicle or Dealer(?)...They've been paid to provide parts and service (fitting) which are Fit for Purpose. Sounds as though something's not working as it should.
- Bring it to their attention, politely but persistantly. Give them all the facts and your observations, and we hope they solve the problem before the Forum does...
Murphy's Law, 'If you take lots of detailed notes, wasting time and paper..., all will be well... but if you don't, then everything possible will go wrong and you'll wish you had.'
Edit:- Don't forget the possibility that the pulverising prop shaft may have done some other damage that has'nt been noticed...
