    R380 rebuild

    Any one rebuilt a 380?
Do I need the special tools as in the manual? or will the usual drifts, punches and very big hammers do the job
    cheers Ian

Plenty of detailed tutorials here of members rebuilding their R380's. Search is your friend.

You'll need access to a press. Other than that, there are no special tools.

Here's a link to my rebuild.

There are plenty of other threads. As Robbo said, do a search and you'll find lots of info.

I've done a couple now. Details of one in the thread on my 90 in my signature. No idea which page though and its a long thread! (edit: sort of starts at post 144 and goes on for a while)

You will need a decent size puller to get the mainshaft collar off. Other than that basic-ish tools should get you through.

another load of pics starting of another box (suffix j this time) on this thread.

reassembly starts at post 64 I think. stripping down would be earlier

thanks for the advice guys. I did a bit more digging around the site, have access to a press (the owner doesn't know that yet) and I'll get the gear puller set which was suggested somewhere.

just getting around to assembling the box. Can anybody tell me which way does the railko bush which sits in the selector yoke go.
Flange to the top with circlip on the bottom or circlip on top and flange at the bottom? Can't find a clear enough picture in rave.
    cheers Ian

Are you talking about the selector in the extension housing on the main shaft?
