    Ser3 Steering boss

    Hi guys
I have a nice polished wood SAAS steering wheel.Im chasing info if anybody knows if any "common" car has the same dia steering shaft/splines as a Ser3,please let me know as the Boss kit is unreasonably expensive for what it is.Early(XA/X falcon are different.I can make my own indicator activator to suit the boss, that part is reasonably easy.
    Thanks

Andrew I thought the early Rangie fitted the series and if so then the early disco should fit as well.

If you want to try the fit I have the disco steering wheel at home

Also you can order the boss ( you use to ) I know autotechnia does them

I bought a sports steering wheel for my SIII with a removable boss from British Parts in Perth. $110 for complete wheel/boss.

    Thanks Micheal and Adam
Was looking to see if any body knows if say a holden etc is the same, have seen them $10 at swapmeets, was being abit stingy trying to avoid paying$80 for a new SAAS item. You are right about the early rangie boss being suitable,it is the same part no in the SAAS cattledog.
    Thanks for the response

I made a boss fit my series three. Bought a $10 second hand one off ebay that was to fit a Hyundai Excel. Drilled the centre of the boss out in my drill press until it almost fitted onto the steering shaft in my landie. Then with a hammer drifted it onto the shaft protecting the face of the boss with a thin piece of hardwood. Sounds rough I know but the boss is aluminium and the shaft is steel. Just don't use a masonary hammer and swing at the boss from behind the front seats and you should be okay. Drift it not drive it home. Well actually driftin' in the wet driving home is cool too but not in this case!
If you do belt it too hard you'll end up cracking the boss and need to start over.
Once happy that the shaft has the Land Rover splines all the way through, pull it back off and drill the two holes for the turn squignal cancel. Bolt your aftermarket wheel of your choice onto the boss, fit the boss back on the shaft, lock nut it up and there you go. For an afternoons play you've saved yerself some cash.

Ok if agrojnr is correct about series one disco boss fitting,
then get a hold of a VL commadore boss. thats what ive got on my S1
disco. it wont quite fit out of the box, but the spline count is the same.
all i had to do was spend 10min with a triangle file filing each spline
untill it fits. i didnt worrie about the indicator striker, im now used
    to turning them off myself.
    Cheers DW
