Not sure if this would be applicable in WA but I had this installed in my Defender a number of years ago.
The kid seat attaches to the anchor point in the middle.

Has anyone mounted a Kiddie seat into a Landrover Defender. Mine is a 2001 Extreme (The car that is) As this is the daily drive car for the lady, I need to install ASAP a baby seat for junior who is due in 1.5 weeks. Now problem being, the Defenders are categorized as a commercial vehicle and don't come standard with the anchor point. If anyone could help with some detail or pics it would be very much appreciated. Or heaven forbid she will want to sell my pride and joy and buy a Camry Station wagon. HELP.......... Cheers to you all Tyrepower......

Gday Tyre Power,
I have recently had the same problem in my Rangie as before 1994 it was not compulsary to have tether points in non-commercial vehicles. So I ended up getting two bits of plate laser cut (thanks to Agrojnr) and then had them powder coated which I then bolted through the floor. I will try to put the pics on here but if it fails just go to page 3 of the gallery to Styrange_rovers pics, then on page 2 of my pics down the bottom you will see the 2 pics of my set up. I had these checked and was told that it was a really good, strong tether point and it isn't unsightly and it is out of the way.
Could be another option for you, maybe contact Agrojnr on here via Private message and ask him how much it will cost.

Thanks for that lads. I didn't really want to build rollbars or the like across the back, and was a little worried about bolting through the floor. I had in mind an idea similar to the pics and now have a bit more confidence to go on with.
Cheers Tyrepower
One thing to be aware of is the strength of the rear seat, I went through this exercise when I had my Rangie and heard stories of the seat collapsing with the forces the anchor was able to create by the straps coming from the floor up over the seat. I know the defender seat is not particularly strong.

I've fitted a child restraint to my SIII, a different car, but the principles should be the same.
I bought a child restraint bolt and tag from Babyco (or similar store).
I drilled a hole in the wall behind the front passanger seat, central to the booster seat and bolted the tag on using the supplied bolt with a large LARGE washer on the other side.
My '88 Rangie has 3 bolts located over the rear tail gate in the roof. These are on welded plates [located behind the head lining] and were professionally fitted [about $300] Having them up high makes the cargo area accessible.
Hatchbacks usually have them on the floor behind the rear seat with the belt running at about a 45 deg angle.
So I'm guessing you could use a bought unit with a LARGE washer fitted to the floor behind the rear seat, like many hatch backs do. Otherwise you could get a plate welded to the top of your rear door frame with a captive nut to suit the child restraint and mount it up high.
Run the idea past an automotive engineer, or see what Land Rover have to offer.
I tried asking the local LR dealer and all they said was to drill a hole in the floor?!!
There was a later model Rangie in there that had the restraint point fitted up the top at the back where Michael said but I havent seen anothewr there in the same point since. As I said mine seems to work perfect and wasn't difficult to fit at all.
