Anybody with a rear mounted evaporator unit in a Defender know how much extra oil was required in the system?Have just finished piping up my new unit ready to vac out 32000 btu 4.5 meters of 3/8" and 4.5 of 1/2" hose 7cyl Sanden
compressor 650x 350 mm condensor and Redot horizontal filter dryer. The place I bought my fittings and hose suggested 50 mils but would`nt commit .If any AC guru would like to make a educated guesstimate it would be appreciated

Hmm, cannot exactly help you with the oil, but if the system is working correctly very little, if any, oil will be circulating around the system. So the advice given to you may well be on the mark.
Just one thing though: maybe you have one extra zero on your BTU quote? 32,000 BTU is around 2.5 TONS of refrigeration, and seems a bit of an overkill.

A new sanden 7 cyl compressor should have pre-charge of oil up to 250cc(ml)
For a larger gas charge as yours, oil should be about right for testing
Less than 80cc of oil should remain in compressor after 10min operation,
See attached manual

50 mills would be pretty close to the mark
