    Filler/drain plug spanner

Ive just spent 4 hours on my back draining and refilling all the oils, well almost all of them. Unfortunatly all the plugs and drains have been locktighted or glued in place. A 1 meter extension bar was needed to remove them all.

The gearbox filler hole has one of those embossed star shape head.
Now after reading on this forum different ideas i made up a shape to fit but since like all the others this plug is also glued in i either snape or bend the tool so i need the proper thing. Is it only available to Landrover service people ?or is it comercialy available?

Should i be concerned that these plugs are glued in ? Has any one had them come out or was it the over enthusiastic Jaguar dealer who aparently serviced the vehical since new. Maybe its a Jag problem ?

Nother question. Reading a bit about front swival pins i cant find a drain plug for these do they have one ?
Do you just fill them up with the penrite grease till it comes out the top?

The gearbox filler if it is an R380 is a TORX fiiting.
I removed mine and fitted a 1/2" plumbing water plug. Now it's just a matter of using a socket or ring spanner on it . EASY AS NOW, difficult before though.

    8) the swivels have a drain plug, on later models i think they deleted it,
as the early jiggers had oil filled then lr went to greased for life,

I bought the correct TORX fitting from the local part place for $5.

I know exactly how you felt, I was worried I would crack the Transfer box case with two feet (and toes) on the end of the bar.

The things hiding at the bottom of the toolbox under the seat so I cant tell you the exact size at the moment.
(the MTF94 oil can be sourced from the local Caltex/Ampol if they are cooperative @ $127 for 20L)

Yes it is a torx bolt.
The size is T55 and now has a home in the bottem of my tool box.
Like my 98 disco no drain plugs in the swivle housing, use grease, but I ask, how do you drain or keep an eye as to any water in them, taping them and putting a drain plug in is a job for next time there off.
