RRS Trailer Connection - help needed

    Hi all,

I'm about to pick-up a (new to me) 2010 RRS this week and I am trying to find some detail around the trailer connection setup.
My boat trailer requires the reverse light to be "active" so that when reversing (say down a boat ramp) it sends a signal to disengage the brakes on the trailer.

Can anyone tell me if the RRS is wired for this or do I need to get and auto electrician to make some modifications? I have to pick-up my boat from storage in a few weeks (250km away) and I won't have a chance to test it before I head up with the new tow rig..

    Thanks in advance

    Howso

    you will need a mod.

Have a look at http://www.aulro.com/afvb/l322-range...ml#post1636903 there is a couple of gotchas with this.

It will have (unless already modified)

    the black socket
Pin - Function - Wire colour.
    1 - LH turn - Yellow
    2 - +12V or rear Fog lamps - Blue
3 - Chassis Ground - white or Grey
    4 - RH Turn - Green
5 - RH Tail lamps etc - Brown
    6 - Stop lamps - Red
7 - LH Tail Lamps etc - Black

    And the white socket
Pin - Function - Wire colour
    1 - Reversing lamps - Yellow
    2 - spare - Blue
3 - Chassis Ground (not pin 6) - white or Grey
    4 - + 12V constant - Green
    5 - spare - Brown
    6 - + 12V Ign - Red
    7 - Ground for pin 6 - Black

    * So it should be OK to take the yellow from the white socket and put it into pin #2 on the black socket.
    * The brake controller blue output need to go to pin #5 on the black socket. Many people have come undone here, interesting issues like trailer brakes locking when the auto headlights come on because RH tail is in pin 5.
    * The RH tail lamp brown wire needs to be disconnected from pin 5 and joined to the LH tail lamps black wire to prevent errors about tail lamps not working.

I did all my modifications to the loom at the trailer ECU, so they are all out of the weather...

All caused because Land Rover considers pin 5 and pin 2 to be optional and therefore don't need to comply with Australian Standards

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
