    Push rods

I completely rebuilt my 300 tdi and after a test run 150 Klms found my water pump bolts came loose and lost all my coolant and overheated . I brought a new head valves etc as these where the only things l never replaced . I took the head off yesterday and have found all my push rods bent 1 more bent than others. When we tried to start it up after rebuild we had to back the rocker arms off as they where tight would this have bent them ?? I have fitted new cam crank valve guides pistons block honed any thoughts Greg thanks

What do you mean by "back the rocker arms off", didn't you adjust the valve lash before you tried to start it, a more detailed explanation would help, and as stated by "loanrangie", did you replace your timing belt, Regards Frank.

Seems to me that you don't have much mechanical knowledge, going by the way you have described your efforts so far, now there is nothing wrong with that.
BUT if you don't know enough to set the Valve clearances before starting the engine you have more than likely got the valve/Injection Pump timing wrong when you replaced the timing belt.
I think it would be wise to get a qualified mechanic to check out the Cam/Valve/ Injection Pump timing before you do some damage, let us know how you go, good luck, Regards Frank.

Greg, there are tutorials in the "Good Oil" section on this forum that will take you step by step through the process and you could buy a Rave Disc from Dave as well, the workshop manual will give you instructions on how to set and adjust the valve lash and how to set up timing marks for the timing belt and of course you could ask for help from the forum or there might be a local (Mt. Isa) that's on this forum as well, that's why it pays to put your location up, Regards Frank.
