Tru9's look a bit hardcore for non comp applications, looks like u cant run standard 9 gears or even unmodified lockers? Agree Sals are the cheapest bolt in upgrade from ashcroft 24spline gear, but cheapest is not always best.

It all comes down to how much coin people wanna spend. Factor in 2 custom made and balanced drive shafts as well. They don't come cheap.

From memory the British army was supplied by aUK contractor with something that was called WMK weapons platform ( defender ) with a Dynatrac rear only axle.:D
Are there any good lockers available for the ford 9" other than ARB and Detroit?

Toyota G series 8", had 800+ through one stock, available with a variety of factory and A/m LSD & lockers. Know another guy who ran 1000+ and 1500+nm through one and the only issue was bearings until I showed him pegging.
Housings were fitted to a huge variety of cars and trucks so different track widths are available.
And don't forget Solid here in Australia make/made a high pinion D60 based centre that would be equivalent or close to a Rover housing in drop from the axle centreline.
Maybe even better ?
It would make a bullet proof front end using Sals tubes.
