    Disco front prop

Hi, just after some thoughts on the front props.
I have a d2 v8, I have the double carden front prob and have see lots of different thoughts. Could I get away with replacing it with one from a d1 with a single uj?
At the moment, my d2 v8 is standard height.
Just looking for a cheaper option at the moment other than rebuilding it.

    You would be going backwards..
Plenty of threads on fitting greaseable fittings etc...

Does anyone do a prop shaft with cv ends as they can handle working at angles far better up to 10deg + where a uni is maxed out at around 4 deg before it starts wearing excessively and about 6 deg when they start vibrating due to the angle there working on

Double Cardan joints are also known as CV joints - The D2 already has this arrangement...

I'm assuming you are referring to this style: (Top Shaft in pic)

That bottom pic is pretty flash.
I'm just trying to sort it out on the cheap side for now.
I started getting a vibration while slowing down @ 60kph.
I've taken the shaft off this morning, there is no play that I can feel, but it is quite tight to flex all the way in one direction. It moves freely for half its travel, and not lumpy, but when you flex it more it feels like its pushing against the spring and gets more resistance. Not sure if its normal, as I have never check a d/c joint.
If a d1 single uj shaft fits I may put it on as I'm worried this may let go and damage the transfer case, and any thing else close by.
The car is standard height so not sure if vibration would be an issue.
I just don't have the funds to rebuild it at the moment, or buy a new one.

The D1 shaft will require a different flange on the transfer case output.

Yes, as pointed out by Psimpson7 - you will need to fit another flange...

Have you driven it without the front shaft fitted? Do that and see what you find...

No I believe the cv joints are weaker, but allow more angle.
