    Td5 tacho and rear seats

Hi all, I am only new to the landrover world but I am loving it except for the lack of local info.... What I need to know is can you fit a aftermarket tacho to a td5 as it being a 5 cylinder and all tacho I have seen only cater for 4,6 and 8 cylinder motors . Also I have a 2002 defender extreme 110 and would like to fit extra seats in the back for large family outings, can the seats be fitted easily ?..

Thanks in advance for your time

On your diesel engine the tacho works by counting pulses from the W+ connection on the back of the alternator, so the number of cylinders is unimportant. What is important is the size of the alternator pulley as this effects the speed of the alternator and therefore the tacho reading.

As for fitting extra seats, have a look at your compliance plate for maximum seating. What you can do and what is legally allowed may be two different things.

VDO make them for the td5. Also if you run a nanocom diagnostic tool on instrument setting this will show rpm etc
