Hi, and thanks in advance, and to every one who is always here to help.
Still pondering on ideas to improve the disco. ( both of them. )
O.k, I have a v8 d2, I use for off road, and a td5 d2, for my wife and kids, which I am trying not to use as it is her daily driver and don't want to damage it.
1st up, I've been thinking about the torque converter, and had some good information here, thanks!. I don't have the funds in invest into any decent mods, but I am still interested to improve the t/c lock up.
With the information I have been given, and found out, the tc can be locked up quite easily, want I would like to know is about the speed signal generated by the slabs for the 30kph shut off for the sls. If I can tap into the signal generated, I can get the t/c to lock up at 30 kph, which I would think would work reasonably well, maybe a little harsh on gear change, but worth a go to feel it. I would also think about putting in a brake light signal feed, to stop lock up while on the brakes ( I know, not ideal, but no worse than what it is now)
For my v8, I was thinking of tapping into the 8kph signal, and having an over ride lock up switch for off road. Maybe connected to the low range, or diff lock switch.
Also I would like to shut off the sls while off road, with a switch to control the height from inside to allow me to control it. Or atleast be able to still use the off road mode, or extended off road mode. The reason is that I have fitted a bypass valve, and have incorporated a valve to allow both air bags to be linked together, which allows really good suspension travel, some thing I found was poor with the sls working. I know it would be easier to fit springs, but I like the air bags, and allows for more varied situations.
Thanks for your help guys, and look forward to your comments and ideas.
