    Rolls Royce Lightweight?

I would appreciate the advice of anyone with knowledge of this type of vehicle; I recently aquired a Lightweight, but it has a 2 litre Rolls Royce engine, with a gearbox allowing you to go as fast in reverse as you can forward (perilous!!!). This reminds me of the old Austin Champ.

However, it was a genuine military spec, (ie, it has not been modified since release), and it was used as a deep penetration recce vehicle by the Royal Marines. It served in the 1st Gulf War, and was “winterised” for Norwegian operations, although it never served in Norway, (at least, until I bought it in UK).

Can anyone shed any light on this Rolls Royce modification? At present, I am tempted to replace the engine & gearbox with standard Series III running gear for simplicity of servicing and spare parts – there aren’t many Land Rovers here in Central Norway, but even fewer Rolls Royces!

    Regards,

I posted the above for Don as I found it in our news section.
    Can anyone help out?

Sounds a bit like the early series 1 units with a RR engines in them instaled by the british army. Perhaps a copy of this in the REMLR section and an e-mail to carzee is in order
