Hi all,
Well stipped the second engine today and put both blocks side by side, engine numbers and plates on rocker covers indicate these engines are 4 months apart, looking in the valley I notice differences in were the lifters go, the following photos are the same spot on each , why is one ground and one not, noting the one that is not ground ( cleaner of the 2 ) is on the engine that has been Appart before and rebuilt, the other is a stock motor

No one got any idea?
Around the lifters may be part of normal casting variance, as for the webs I got nothing
There was what is known as a thick web 3.5 block but i cant remember the origin of these, i think they may have been from SD1 Rover era ?
