From what I've been told, I don't think the sound system is like a normal radio.
It has it's own control unit & the dash display is completely seperate from this. If this control unit is made by BMW/Land Rover or not I don't know.
Hi folks, can anyone give me a idea on how I can find out what is the make and model of the sound system, short of pulling the dash apart, in my Rangy.
LRA could only come up with a part number and no make or model number.
The reason I need the exact details is because Apple and BMW in the US have released a new attachment the plugs into an Ipod and allows the Ipod to be controlled by the vehicles dash mounted sound controls.
Great idea and improves the sound quality BUT it can only be used on certain models of sound systems fitted to BMWs and these same sound systems are fitted to the latest range of Rangies.
The LR dealers have no idea as it is not something that is normally required and the vehicle operating manual only tells you how to operate the different systems, without actually giving the brand name or model.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Scouse, from the imfo I can get off the US BMW and Apple sites, the add-on either connects to the sound system via auxiliary RCA plugs already mounted on the back of the sound system or you can disconnect the stacker and use the stackers connections to install the Ipod connector.
The main problem seams to be that the add-on will not work or can not be connected to systems that have GPS included.
Regards.
If it helps, the radio control unit is located in the N/S/R 1/4 panel (behind loadspace area side trim).

Thanks Scouse, apparently someone from LRA was reading through the site and sent me a PM with details on where I could find the info I need on the sound system so between there info and yours, I should have the problem solved.
Thanks for your help and it is obvious that this site works very well.
Regards ALL.
PS. If I get the adaptor, I'll let you know how it goes.

Glad you got the good oil.
I wonder who the LRA trojan (good on them) was....but I guess it is none of our business. It's reassuring that LRA might regard this site as a useful and credible place.

I'm sure there are some forumites on here from LR dealers, but sometimes they don't have access to the info the LRA tech guys have.
