I had one on my 94 interim update 3.9 - I just connected it to the coil and it worked fine - mine was a manual so if you had to change down going up a hill, the overspeed detector in the unit detects the rapid rev change and cuts off the cruise control.

It worked fine off the coil - just connect like a tacho.

That works fine except if it's auto!
In an auto the vehicle will shift to unlock TC and disconnect as revs jump.
Picking up from speed sensor either behind dash or at box will enable speed control not rpm control and will allow the vehicle to drop back (auto) to climb hills

I installed one of these on the D1 but used two magnets just ahead of the front output shaft given you can put a bar to the sensor from left over thread. The two opposite gave me cruise down to 50+ k from memory and used tie wire with sealant to locate quite successfully. I know that sounds crude but spent time of accuracy and tie off for balance and it lasted the 100K in the road and bush without fault.

Sorry - I thought the OP was talking about installing on a manual vehicle.

I will order an AP60 in the next couple of days but it will be a few weeks before I will be installing it.
    Disco 3.5 efi manual.

I am going to try connecting it to the speed sensor off the transfer case, I should be able to pick the wiring up under the dash.
Also at first I am going to try only hooking up the brake switch. Slowing down I will use the brake to switch it off as normal. I dont think I ever change down before braking.

This arrangement means it is a less complicated installation I hope.

Anyway we shall see how it goes.
