Telling engine capacity from a VIN Number and Puma 2.2 to 2.4 chnageover
Hi
Hopefully someone can help
Can anyone tell me how to identify if a Puma 130 has a 2.2 or 2.4. engine and exact year from the VIN number. I have each from the vendor.
I'm looking to purchase a 2012 model, which as far as I know the year the 2.2 was introduced, but the rego ticket say 2.4 litres
Its a long way to inspect and I want to know exactly which year before I head off. From what I've heard/read the 2.2 is preferable to the 2.4 and of course newer

Rego paperwork never lies...
I just noticed one of the cars we have owned (for the last 10 years or thereabouts) has the wrong GVM on the registration paperwork.

The 10th digit of the VIN defines the model year.
A 2012 will be a C.

G'day Clive,
The engine type is designated by the 7th letter of the VIN. If it is an
P is 2.2L Euro Spec EU5 engine.
R is 2.2L ROW Spec (rest of world) non EU5, this is the Aussie fitted 2.2L
S is 2.4L Euro Spec EU4.
I don't know what the designation for the 2.4L ROW engine would is, but if the one your looking at isn't R, there's a good chance its the 2.4L.
This info is direct from the workshop manual.
Don't worry, my rego papers tell me mine is a 2.4L as well...........
Mick.

Thanks a lot everyone
The VIN checks out its an R on the 7th meaning its ROW 2.2 and a C on the 10th meaning its 2012 model
This is consistent with what the seller is saying.
Deal is looking good again
