X Engineering Handbrake Conversion

Questions:

Do the X Engineering ones hold as good or better than the drum version?
Do the rattle and when? or has this now been fixed?
Does unybody know clearance gains over RRC drum?

Which one?, what info do you have on the one or ones that lost thier hold?

The rattling can be resolved/reduced by sticking the pad onto the piston with silicone (don't use Sikkaflex or you'll never get it off).

Standard drum handbrakes can be contaminated with oil leaking from the output shaft and have been known not to hold either.

The X-Eng kit has an (almost excessively) large caliper with good pad contact on the rotor, other brands have smaller calipers with less rotor contact.

I would not bother, alot of money for not much gain

Have you tried it?, when you say not much gain, does it bring the handbrake above the chassis rails? This is my motivation,landed on the drum which hangs below chassis rails on a ledge which forced both trans mounts appart

I must apologise this is an image of another member I borrowed for research. But it shows the X-Eng in place.

Yes, I had one. it let go whilst I had a tandem, stock crate and 2 steers's in it on the back

I had Matts (rovercare) let go on me, and have read of others doing the same, think may be isuzurovers??

What exactly do you guys mean by "let go"? Did it break or just slip? The stock ones slip all of the time....

Slip to the point of the vehicle rolling away! And not on real steep terrain.
