Willvine....I've asked about the size and weight of the ladder, as I have a sister in the UK that might be able to find a cheaper courier/freight company...I'll let you know........as for the 'standing on the wheel'....great thinking.....I'll try that....... but still like the ladder look.Quote:

Just heard back from them....the Rimmer Bros in the UK....size & weight is 86x36x17......3.3kgs....I'll make some enquries on freight...anybody else interested?
They really arn't expensive.....I've been given two in the past and I live in Dubai where everything costs more!
One of them went for shot blasting and then 2-pack epoxy coating...it's on the back of my Disco now. The other I gave to a mate and he's got it on the back of his truck now too.
You should only stand on the ladder when the rear door is firmly closed. (if the door was open then you'd fall over the top anyway!) These ladders don't harm the hinges in any way that I can see.
With ref to standing on the spare wheel.......next time you take your spare off take a look at the rear of the support where the studs are welded...they crack or distort at the weld...hence shortening the life of the support bracket.

Bolts to the left hand side of the rear door.

They're great for sending kids up to throw down stuff off the roofrack.
Put a decent size adult on them, & you will bend the door out of shape a tad, eventually. Trust me, been there done that. On a D1 anyway, can't speak for a D2.
