T'was merely a comparison between the best and the worst.

In between was Kevs ETC def 110, Bushies non ETC def 110, my Disco and Rogers RR. The Pajeros were left in the parking lot as clearance was an issue.

The hilux suffered from independent front suspension and leaf spring rears.

The locked Defender did it slow and easy.

g'day all

air lockers and traction control dont work at all
if lockers are fitted take the fuse out of your tc
before you turn the lockers on
within seconds you will break a axel or smash your diff
computer carnt work out whats going on with all wheels locked

trust me i know

hi hiline

How does it do that... break a diff ?? If all wheels are locked, shouldn't all turn at same speed as they would if vehicle travelling straight so TC would do nothing ?

The more I read about these newer leccy everything LRs the happier I become with my old clunker. 8)

g'day Hellspawn

when the lockers are turned on
the tc and abs brake computer carnt work out whats going on so it locks all wheels ( apply brakes )

its all to do with how the tc works
not supposed to have all wheels spinning at one time

but once you take the fuse out all is fine

what absolute rot.... I don't know where you read or heard that but it is rubbish.. There are many vehicles that I know of that are running lockers as well as the factory ETC.... if it is not supposed to have all wheels spinning at one time... how does the vehicle move forward in a straight line as all wheels turn at one time while driving..

g'day landy_man

well i havent heard or read this anywhere
its all fact
i used to run the front and rear lockers on my 2000 110 extreme
with 35in centepeades

once in full locks front and rear and excessive wheel spin
you would see the TC kick in all wheels would just shudder and shake
thus applying the breaks to the wheels that are spinning

it took us awhile to work it out and a number of axles both front and rear and also diffs

only thing we could work out was the lockers
working against the TC

but once we took the fuse out all dramas where over

i had the same problem in my old 110 extreme without a locker in soft sand inclines... the vehicle would sit there bouncing and shuddering... and basically going mad..
this is the traction controls inability to deal with excessive wheel spin and has nothing to do with the locker..

my thing would snap axles on a driveway if it was slippery enough

so we thought run the maxi axles that will fix it

but then the diffs started to bust

peter from AMV worked it out for us disconnect the TC and ABS all things were fine
but a costly exercise in the meantime
