    300tdi timing belts do last

Might be unusual but my timing belt on the deefer did 190,000ks,is that a record?...when pulled down it was found to be stretched a tad as the timing was out a little, So stick that in ya pipe Toyo!...If everything is perfectly in line and the right tension there as good as anything else, the idlers where still in good shape as well, I know should have bought a few lottery tickets..lol.

    Cheers Sumo.

When I bought mine the belt had been done 30,000 k before. I did a fan bearing. When we pulled the timing cover off we found an idler had not been done properly, a gear bolt was over tight and the belt had been wearing against the timing cover. Basically it would not have made it the 70,000 k replace stage.

    Thank you fan bearing gods.

I reckon if you've had the upgrade kit fitted and used the revised torque for the tensioner then there is no reason the belt wont last bar a faulty belt.
