    TD5 Glowpug consumption!!!

My 99 TD5 D2 seems to enjoy a set of glowplugs a year.
According to Justin Cooper this is not a common problem with the TD5.
I will admit I have only used the "Common Branded" glow plugs that MOST specialist Landy parts suppliers stock in the past.
The other possible issue,I have 1 damaged "spark plug boot" on 1 glowplug, that could be coming loose then the other 3 get burnt out in sympathy???? Its common on jap diesels to burn out the rest of the plugs when one fails.
Awaiting a price on some good quality glowplugs, dont mind spending the extra as long as I will get more than one season from them.
Anybody else have had glow plug problems in the TD5????
    Thanks
    Andrew

Andrew,My TD5 seems to start ok without glowing, admittedly a bit rough on very cold mornings.Though I suppose temperatures are lower in Williams.

It starts fine Geoff, you just have to keep cranking it until it fires. Its only an issue if the battery is a bit low.
Once its been started its all good.
Many have suggested fuel pump, had this problem for over 5 years, guessing if the pump was lazy it would be long dead by now.
Once a new set of glowplugs goes in normality resumes

Would the dash indicator indicate the plugs are still heating???

nope, the indication comes from the side of the relay that does the switching, not the acutal powering of the glow plugs..

Could always run a globe on the plug feed wire to check this.. Good suggestion checking that relay!
