I know there are several versions up here but I thought I would post my version as there is some info that might be useful to others.
I used the ARB CKMA12 compressor but I wanted to put in the same location as the existing unit and not have to adjust any of the existing fittings. It is a tight fit but it goes in with careful adjustment of all the mountings. It is infinitely adjustable little unit so you can get the inputs and outputs where you want them.
I also got an ARB air control valve to act as the exhaust valve.
The compressor and the valve are all BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads so I got a assortment of 1/8 and 1/4 inch BSP fittings and 8mm and 10mm push on air hose fittings from Pirtek which enable me to connect up the existing input and exhaust air lines without modification.
Unfortunately I could not get a push on fitting for the 4mm output line. To overcome this I got a 1/4 BSP plug and drilled and taped it to 8x1.0 mm thread and the existing fitting screws into this (last photo below). Now it is not perfect as you should have a reduced diameter at some distance in for the collet of the airline to push up against. I bought another plug to build a new one but as the first one I made doesn't leak it will probably never happen.
I also spliced the connectors into the power and control lines leaving the original connectors on.
Thus all the air lines and the electrical lines are not modified so an original compressor could be slotted back in if required (getting the ring set for old compressor so might go back in at some time). Even used the original bolt to hold the compressor but had to make up a plate for the compressor to sit on.
The only problem I can see with what I have done is that the ARB and the control valve plugs are not water proof like the original, so I could have a problem driving through deep salt water but as I'm not planning this I should be OK.
PS if you are not sure your compressor is the faulty component, first make up the 1/4 plug. This allows you to connect up a workshop compressor to the control valves and as long as you turn the external compressor on only when the landrover one is running it allows to to quickly test whether a good compressor will fix you problems. I did this before I committed to the ARB.
