V8: camshaft replacement

I am interested to replace original camshaft with some more "funny"-to get more torque at low/medium and some 15-20 ponies more too.
Very interested to know opinon of person who did that, what kind of camshaft would be recommended ? My v8 is 3,5 ltr with carbs.

when i put the 4L in my 110, we put the "stage 1" camshaft in from bruce davis motor works. apparently the other two are a little too lumpy for 4wding, more for racing or road vehicles. i've got nice low to mid range torque, have to use a bit of revs and clutch to get started, but can hold good speed in top (4th) up long hills on the freeway over taking all of the toyotas and nissans
