You know I've got a 95' V8 and I had no idea there was a trailer light on the dash. I hate playing round with electricals. hope you get it sorted.

Yep it's an warning for when your trailer indicators fail, supposed to flash once only everytime you indicate without a trailer (as a circuit test) and simultaneously when a trailer is fitted (triggered by higher voltage/current draw I think). It's just annoying that it doesn't work, the light is to the right of the high beam light. Beginning to wish I'd left well alone
Curious thing is though even though the cruise and rear wiper have died the pwr mirrors still work (they're off the same fuse!) :?
I noticed this light for the first time the other day. I tow only rarely.
My flasher can gave up the ghost so I tried a 2nd hand can from a later model Disco. This can had 4 pins as opposed to the original 3. The indicators flashed at twice the usual frequency (all the lights were working) and the trailer light indicated momentarily at each use of the indicator.
I put a 3 pin can back in and the trailer light no longer appears.
Hmmmmm....interesting
That's what I thought.Quote:

Need to find the appropriate flasher can for the job. An auto electrician will pop in the first available.
first thing tommorrow I've gotta go check out my dash, I
really had no idea there was a light there, I tow a jet ski now and then
and haven't seen a thing 8O
My Series 2 Disco is 2001 and has only the indicators in the rear bumper. The main lamp assemblies only have the stop, tail and reverse lights. The current Series 2 (Series 2.5???, Series 2-update???8O ) has the reverse and guard lights in the bumper with the indicators moved up to the main lamp units.Quote:

My trailer icon comes on with the bulb check, and flashes in sync with the indicators when a trailer is attached. It does not flash at all when I'm not towing.
this is just a typical "good idea" by lr, poorly exicuted. my flasher can died, (go figure, lucus the princ of darkness) and i had it replaced with a nice simple usa made unit. now the trailer indicator never works, and taking a look at the old flasher can tells me it had some control over this task. what a cheap piece of ****. who cares about the dash as long as your car/tralier lights work.
don't start me on defender rear lights
cheers, serg
Wrong way around. Less resistance as the extra bulbs draw more current.Quote:

Ohm's Law.

Re the SRS light - did you switch the ignition on with an SRS cable (often the yellow ones) disconnected? If so, that's what has triggered the SRS light. The SRS has done a system check and found a fault. In NSW, if that light is on during an annual rego inspection, it will fail the inspection (so remove the bulb?)Quote:

Now the SRS light is on all the time, have no warning lights at all, the rear wiper doesn't work, the cruise control doesn't work, the clock globe and two dash light globes have blown and the Trailer indicator STILL doesn't work :!: :x :x
Hope all these are related as it cost me $95 to have the SRS reset last time by the LR dealer. Gotta bad feeling this has $$$$$$$$$ written all over it
