I never need to be reminded by instrumentation that I have a trailer attached. :wink:

I always do a manual check of the trailer lights anyway.

You are in the minority, Mahn. Most trailers I see have faulty lights. In theory the LR system should stop that but I reckon the people who currently have faulty trailer lights would still have them. They'd merely ignore the lack of the flashing trailer symbol or not understand it anyway.

I hire my trailers so the Hirers generally do the "flaps...ailerons" routine.

What's the go with the three prong flasher ? power in, dash warning lamp and indicators ? :?

I've only seen the two prong ones.... but then I lead a fairly sheltered life.

The third prong is for those cars that have a single lamp on the dash for the flashers. If the car has left and right dash indicators, then they are driven by the left and right flasher circuits.

You can use a 3-pin can in a 2-pin circuit.

Still only got one brake light at the moment, :oops: ,will have to fix that one of these days.

Re the SRS light - did you switch the ignition on with an SRS cable (often the yellow ones) disconnected? If so, that's what has triggered the SRS light. The SRS has done a system check and found a fault. In NSW, if that light is on during an annual rego inspection, it will fail the inspection (so remove the bulb?)

I was refitting the instrument panel, had the accessories on at the time (listening to the radio) when the light came on...can't see what I may have shorted it on though (if indeed that's what has happened).

taking a look at the old flasher can tells me it had some control over this task. what a cheap piece of sh*t. who cares about the dash as long as your car/tralier lights work.

Your right, the flasher can controls that part of the circuit (RAVE cd wiring diagram) and it is more important that the trailer lights work but I find it annoying that it doesn't, I think it's a good idea so I'll persevere but I can't help thinking that I've started something big!

That's what I thought.

The later model Disco had both indicators on the rear: those in the bumper and also in the main light cluster in the body....more resistance.

Need to find the appropriate flasher can for the job. An auto electrician will pop in the first available.[/b][/quote]
