    Diff lock dilemma

Hi. Can anyone please advise if there is a simple way to check if a 2003 LR Disco TD5 has diff locks fitted and working. The LR I am looking at has the diff lock sticker, the lever can be shifted to the left (as per sticker) but I am not sure if it is connected to anything. It is amazing how many LR sellers just give a blank look when asked if their for-sale vehicles have diff locks.
    Thanks

The 2003 disco has diff lock fitted as standard, when you engage it you should get a light on the dash saying its engaged, I hope this helps

You can jack it up so a front and back wheel is off the ground. Engage diff lock, spin a front wheel and the back wheel should spin.

Or you can reach around the top drivers side of the transfer case and there should be a lever attached to the top of the transfer case with a cable attached to the lever.

Or you engage the diff lock drive the disco forward 5 - 10 meters (or until the diff lock light comes on on the dash). If you do this is it best to stop as soon as the diff lock light is on, reverse a couple of meters and dis-engage the diff lock. If the light does not go off reverse another couple of meters until it does.

Simply, if the Hi/Lo range lever moves sideways as well as forward and aft you have diff lock.
No CDL, the lever will only move fore and aft, CDL fitted it also moves side ways, plus the light on the dash will light up with ign on.

Are you asking about the diff lock or diff locks? That might be confusing people.

I thought that to, OP just to be clear there is only one lockable diff that was available on the D2 , omitted on certain years as you are aware.
