    What wheels are these?

Hi all. Complete noob here and sorry if this is general knowledge, or the information exists but my quick search of this site (as well as a bit of googling) didn't turn up anything useful.

I have just "acquired" a box trailer which has very old looking wheels on it (see pic). The stud pattern is 5x165, which according to Google is a Land Rover pattern.

Can anyone confirm what the wheels below are? (they're 15" diameter)Initially I thought that they were an old VW Kombi rim, but the stud pattern tells me different. If they are Land Rover wheels, then is this a common hub used in trailers? (most of the mass produced ones these days seem to use HQ, HT or Ford patterns).

Secondly, are there any alternative wheels available in this stud pattern? Being a trailer, I like to run 14" LT tyres, so prefer a set of 14's. I have already spoken to Speedy Wheels and they tell me they haven't made 14's in this pattern for many years.

I'm thinking it might be best to replace the hubs with something more conventional to give a better choice in wheels.

Appreciate help and sorry for the noob question.

This was my thinking too when I saw the photo.

Certainly not off a Land Rover.

    Cheers,

    Ha!!

I do believe you gentlemen are correct!! I was not aware that Holden had ever had such a large stud pattern. Measuring with the tape measure gave me around 165mm last night, but the FJ is 162mm, which is pretty close.

    Thank you for your responses.

Look like early Holden to me, 48-215 to FJ.

That's what I originally thought based on the look of them, but I think the guys above are right. Turns out that the FX / FJ wheels were quite common on trailers and caravans in the 50's and 60's. In fact, some of the vintage caravaners are still using them.

The only thing still bothering me is that re-checking the stud pattern shows them to be much closer to the 165mm mark than the FJ's 162mm. Will have to wait till I get the trailer to the shed so I can pull a wheel off and have a good look to confirm.

The following 2 ads show FJ wheels for sale, which look very similar to what I've got.

I'm pretty certain VW beetle have a much larger PCD, although they do have the lobate centre hole.
