It might be just as effective to run 140W H4 high beams on your regular headlights and spend the money on other accessories :!: :!: :!: .

The globes are about $15ea, won't get stolen and are easy to replace. At that price I reckon they're worth a try before spending too much money.

If you buy cheap H4 globes the filaments won't last long on corrugated roads.
you will need to upgrade your existing wiring to your headlights if fitting higher wattage bulbs or you will let the smoke out of the wiring, not to mention it is somewhat illegal in just about all states....
Not only that, but if you fit them to newer vehicles with plastic light fittings, the considerable extra heat will melt them. Then you'll be up for new headlight assemblies and at LR prices, you'd be better off with driving lights.

    Headlight upgrade choices???

Now I know this topic is about driving lights, but I'm in need of a headlight upgrade for my 2003 Defender 90. Basically, anything on the exterior of my def gets stolen including mirrors (the B@stards) :x . So a headlight upgrade is the only option. So what options do I have? I'd like to stay legal if possible.

    Cheers
    Ben

Thanks incissor, I've updated it now.

Basically Duncans is preaching new CIBIE Xenon H4 Bulb replacements. ARB is preaching new IPF Xenon bulbs, new reflectors, relay and cables.

I'm not after daylight with no moon and the money isn't such of a worry, if I'm not wasting it.

if you use lights that will draw more power than standard lights
make sure you fit relays or you will burn out the headlight switch and have no lights at all..........

Yeah that white stuff coming from under the bonnet was only steam off the motor as you'd just degreased it.

    We know.......

    Wasn't smoke at all......

And where the heck does theoneills live ? Wanna make sure I don't overnight park hellspawn near there anytime soon ! Might come back and have no towbar.... or worse..... no door handles !!! 8O

You'd better hope they don't steal your door mirrors and your door handles together cause you are going to need to open the door to replace the mirrors.

i use KC daylights on my truck . For the main reason they have a seal beam lense. So water can never get in. And of course they are really powerfull
They are expensive but i have had the same set for about 6 years and they have been on 4 differant trucks
