In the circa 1950 Series 1 Land Rover expedition from London to Singapore, done by a combined Cambridge-Oxford team, they found that placing wet towels on the floor significantly reduced cabin dust levels during desert crossings. A book of the expedition entitled "First Overland" makes for fascinating reading. Unfortunately I lent my copy to someone 15 years ago. If anyone comes across a copy at a 2nd hand book shop, be sure to buy it.
Another hint is to seal any small holes (such as around the tail lights or floor). Just a pin hole can suck dust in if the cab has a lower air pressure to the atmosphere.
Sorry to get a little off the thread here, but if you're interested, they're redoing that run next year sometime. 50 year aniversary of the trek looks like, as the original was in 1955.
