This site mentions improving dust sealing around the rear door, and is interesting anyway.
I want to improve the dust sealing on my 110. Now I know no car is going to be perfect, in particular Defenders, but I'm going to try and improve it nevertheless. Started with some doorseal foam in strategic places. Rear door in particular is a problem.
Any other suggestions?

try this
On the rubber seals that came with the Defender you will find small holes.
Spray inside these with lots of silican lub or rubber grease.
Slowly push in a length of rubber air hose/vacume hose in a size just bigger than the hole itself.
Takes a while and can be a pain in the bum.
Wont do a whole door seal in one go, will have to use a few lengths of air hose.
Did this to the rear door of my old Disco and both front doors. Made a big difference.
There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours
Thanks guys. I've got a swingaway carrier which had definitely relieved stress on the door. I'll look for the holes and continue with the foam.
cheers
Could rig up your compressor so air pressure inside cab is higher than atmospheric pressure...

hmmm a hyperbaric Land Rover. You could probably call it a medical device and get some sort of Tax exemptionA road trip wouldn't just be soothing for the mind, it could have other therapeutic effects too :!: A popular conversion for divers, those at high altitude, burns victims, sportsmen recoving from knee surgery ....
In the circa 1950 Series 1 Land Rover expedition from London to Singapore, done by a combined Cambridge-Oxford team, they found that placing wet towels on the floor significantly reduced cabin dust levels during desert crossings. A book of the expedition entitled "First Overland" makes for fascinating reading. Unfortunately I lent my copy to someone 15 years ago. If anyone comes across a copy at a 2nd hand book shop, be sure to buy it.
Another hint is to seal any small holes (such as around the tail lights or floor). Just a pin hole can suck dust in if the cab has a lower air pressure to the atmosphere.
I always have the fan on with all vents closed. If the day is warm enough the air cond on low to med in conjunction with the fan pressurises the cab enough to keep out most of the dust. It's always tempting to open a window a little for fresh air however this can cause the dust to be sucked in through all sorts of places.
When I did open a window I just drove slow, or wound it up soon as the dust became bad.
Spent Sunday on the very dry and dusty tracks of Mt Mee State Forest, and the interior got absolutely covered in dust.
Today I spent an hour wiping it all out (as best I could).
Does anyone know how to remove dust from the hoodlining :?:
I am hesitant to vacuum it in case it damages the hoodlining.
Perhaps next time I should shut the windows, eh :?: :!:

I use my garden blower......... Seriously. Give it all a dust with a brush, open all doors including the back, start blower stand at one door and blow towards the other side.
Thats why I love my Landy
I don't have a garden blower.
I can imagine the salesmans face when I ask for a garden blower suitable for use in the interior of a four wheel drive.
