Did you just cut it with a home type jigsaw, and a decnet blade or does 3mm need something a bit more - dramatic :?:
How did you do the 'roll' part :?:
The pic below shows my checker plating which was cut and rolled by myself and mine are cut from 3mm plating

Vlad I work for a laser cutting company so the parts were cut using a windows based laser machine
I rolled the parts on the end of my trailer

Is 3mm thickness difficult to work with ?
Is there any reason I couldn't cut it with a jigsaw and metal blade ?
Similarly, would rolling it be difficult ?
Also I have seen some black chequerplate wing protectors, and I like the look of them.
Is treadplate (chequerplate) sold in black at all, or would I have to buy 'natural' and get it powder coated ?

3mm is easy to cut with a hacksaw, or jigsaw, and easy to file. However, making a clean, straight cut would be quite difficult. Rolling it would be difficult too.Originally posted by VladTepes

I don't think it comes in black, you'd need it powercoated. I originally wanted mine in white but was advised natural is best for durability and looks.
These are what I have. Contact Troutbeck for a price. I don't think they look good in black on red though.
I'm thinking black on white - will match the bar and front grille so should look good I reckon - perhaps.
I prob don't want or need the bonnet section as I have the spare wheel bracket (albeit empty) on there.
Did you get em imported from the UK ? (Is that where Troutbecks is?)
What was the damage ($) after the cost plus postage plus duty/tax :?:
Also did they have the aerial cut-out in them already ?

For a start Vlad 3mm is easy to roll you just have to carefull and take your time.
If you want black you have to get them powder coated as paint would just simply come off.
I sell these vlad if you want a price ( natural colour )

Wouldn't say that. Powder coating isn't its all cracked up to be. Sure its a sealant but usually for rust when that powder coating fails. Can start with a stone chip and before too long rust will "eat" quite quickly along under the powder coating. You won't find it 'til too late.Originally posted by agrojnr

Paint gets a bad name as most who put it on haven't an idea of the right way to do it or the right one for the purpose. Preparation is the key to it. I've seen paint fall off after a month and was "professionally" done. Paint will actually stop rust if applied properly.
A recoatable marine epoxy would be the go here, comes in most colours you want and is very hard wearing. Paint brush or gun doesn't matter as it dries without marks, cost a bit though but you'd be lucky to need 1L which should give a couple of good coats.
Troutbeck Sales is in Melbourne and they sell the wingtops (2.5mm) for $190 ... plus $40 if you want powder coating. http://www.troutbecksales.comOriginally posted by VladTepes

Grame Cooper Automotive in Sydney do them as well ... $175.45 plus a fitting kit or $217.80 in black powder coating. http://www.lrexpert.com.au
