Defender noise

Anybody fitted one of those soundproofing kits to a defender? Did it make much difference?

any sound proofing fitted to a defender will make a difference......

a cheaper and quicker option would be a set of earplugs......less than $1.

I have fitted a Noisekiller kit to my '04 110, well, most of it. Yes, it makes a difference of 2-4db. I have yet to find the time to try BB's sound deadening paint trick, which I expect will further reduce the noise; I know someone else that's done that. Another idea is the GKN overdrive. I'm also going to take the door trim off and paint inside that too.

    WHO ME 8O

Had time this morning to kill and couldnt find anything to do.

Spotted the noise kill tin that had some left inside still.

Removed the rear door cover, cleaned it up(lots of dust), and spread the last of the thick stuff onto the back of the door skin.
havnt refitted the door trim yet, might redo it in checker plate

and before anyone asks, I didnt place it in the tech section because I didnt see it as a tech solution, just me trying out something that may or may not have worked.

    But it did

Thanks for the replies........I'll check out that sound deadening paint stuff and read the thread.......

rmp.......are you in Aus? where did you get your noisekiller kit? I wanted one, but the guy wanted 220 pounds to courier it to me! 2 - dB means nothing to me.......is it noticably quieter in the cab at idle? and at highway speeds?

    thanx,

    Martin
