    Endless AIR

Has anyone manage to fit an Endless Air from KAREELA ENGINEERING
to a TD5 (Disco Series II) and how did it go? tThey sell mounting kits for
    # Toyota Landcruiser
    # Nissan Patrol
    # Rodeo 4 cylinder
    # Rodeo V6
    # Pajero 2.8 diesel
    but nothing for Land Rover.

    thanks.

there is no more room under the bonnet for any more bits....
there is no where to fit another air con compressor or any spare pulleys to run it from.

it can be done but will take some mucking around.

you can easily make one from an air cond. compressor which is all they are. these have an electronic clutch to switch it on and off so will not sap power from engine when running.

great idea if you got the space under the bonnet.

one day in the next ten or so years, i plan to fit one to mine. if you manage to do it before me i will want to see photos to see how and where you have fitted it.

    good luck.

Endless air, don't know that much about them.... they're those compressors that run off a pulley on the engine or something ????

If there's no kit you might need a bit of custom engineering.

Wouldn't think a compressor would chew up much power, bit of 8mil. plate for the bracket and hook into one of the existing belt loops, should be "shweet".

Just make sure you mount it somewhere convenient and with enough belt to pulley contact to drive the compressor without slipping.

    Thinking out loud here,
what about a pully on the hand brake drum with that running the compressor.
then you have the prob of being in all the mud?????????

    Hi Weimar
I have seen aircon compressor setups on disco V8's,basically the 2 aircon compressors sit side by side, the crank drives the aircon compressor, then a second belt runs the air comp aircon compressor via a double pulley setup.
It would involve fabricating a plate to bolt to your exsisting aircon mounts and a pulley tensioner. If they can duplicate an aircon compressor on the V8,sureley there is enough room on a TD5.

Pulley on the handbrake drum... compressor would only be driven when the driveshaft turns. Don't like that idea.

However driven off the PTO  you'd have plenty of room to install a decent compressor like a 17CFM. That's enough to pump up tyres at a reasonable pace or give you the ability to use air tools. Very handy if you bust something in the scrub or need to inflate a tyre from flat.

Those a/c compressors aren't bad, 8 CFM bit slow but they are then better than a electric one. Couldn't really run air tools effectively off that sort of flow. A/C compressors need to be lubed fairly regularly so they don't sieze. Cheap option but an air tank to improve performance.

These endless air things, they any better than those electric compressors ?
