Thread: My Weird noiseon the tdi

Finally found it!!!,...just about to pull the head off , thank gawd I didn't, after listening for the umpteenth time,i stuck my head right down on the alternater and seemed to pick up a bit more noise , so while it was running I stuck a bar in behind and levered out the noise stopped straight away, turns out the bottom mounting tag has sheered off and the top bolt had lost a bit o f tension ,so it was a vibration noise against the block, sounded so much like it was coming from the manifold ,...So its a bit of a worry down there with these tdi's the serpentine belt has a twisting effect on that mounting tag its not all that strong. think iwill run a bolt all the way through to the other side, looks like a new alternater needed though, unless I can get some thing welded.
