Misfire on Petrol fine on LPG
Hi
My land rover county V8 twin CD175 stromberg, dual fuel runs fine on gas, but on petrol after any sustained throttle use seemingly runs out of fuel, ie max constant speed is about 80-90 km/h, misfires and starves. But boots fin off the lights through the gears for a time anyway.
Right sounds easy fuel filter, pump, etc. so have done the following:
Pull carbys off and checked Needle and seat in both carbys
checked gas/petrol solenoid shut off and bypassed
Replaced Facet style fuel pump with spare pump
Rewired fuel pump earth its 100%
blown out fuel lines
Can anyone else help
Can the gas carby throttle air flow and give symptoms like fuel starvation?
Could it be the ignition, but it runs fine on gas? It has crane XR7000 electronic ignition.
The plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor are new.
Its a 4.2 LSE rangie motor block (with carbs)and goes well bar this misfire
Any tips welcome.
Thanks
Clive

I'd be pulling out the pickup assembly from the petrol tank and inspecting the filter sock. They do block up from either crud or swollen fibres in the mesh. Make an adaptor to use an easily available sock off an EFI pump, eg Commodore. Then make sure any other filter is downstream of the pump, also a good place to use an EFI fuel filter (suggest a Ryco Z200) as they flow better and stay together longer as they have a metal canister.
