Transfer case gear ratios
Hello all,
As per my post in the general forum, I've just recently got my rangie back and driving again after an engine and gearbox swap.
I replaced the original motor, bw35 auto and original transfer (LT95?)with another 3.5, bw35 and transfer.
The impression I've got now is that the gearing has changed in the transfer. It seems to be a lot higher ie more revs at the same speed?
If I provide the numbers off both transfers can anyone here in the brains trust tell me if there were changes in the ratio's between different year model rangies? The original stuff was (as far as I know) what it came with in 81 (except the auto conversion out of the factory).
I seem to remember when buying the gearbox and transfer 2nd hand that the previous owner had rebuilt it semi recently. Is there any easy way to tell what the ratios are?
Cheers,
Bryan

ask the guy you bought them from? as even the stamped numbers will only tell you the original ratio's , not if they have been changed

Right, thanks. I'll try and track him down. I bought it a little while ago.
I guess I'm really after factory specs of different transfer case ratios between the different year models to see if the internals have been changed, or if the entire case came factory with a different ratio.
Clear as mud?
mmmm. mud...
