    How do you check a Diesels compression?

    I know how they check the compression on a petrol motor via the spark plugs but how do they check a diesel engines compression? Is it via the injectors port?

    or the glow plug hole , if its got them , what engine are you refering ?

    You could un screw the glow plugs and test through there.

    Crash, MAKE SURE that the Compression gauge that you use is DESIGNED for a DIESEL engine.
    If you use a gauge designed for a petrol engine you will blow it to bits and if you are in the way it will do the same to you, Regards Frank.

    Same as a petrol but with a lot more caution.

    If your in brissy or thereabouts and can wait till I get back I'll help you out.

    Modern engines do it by one of two ways.

    1. Amps draw on the starter as each pot hits compression.

    2. Crank acceleration changes as it hits compression on each pot.

    I am not doing any testing, it was just a curiosity question as I do not know how it was done.
