How to end a squeal
Hi folks,
I recently purchased a '93 rangie,
I had it out on the weekend for a bit of 4wd fun (trying to bring out the mountain goat in it) the rangie to everything I threw at it at wanted more (well maybe it was me that wanted more
)
After a few hours I noticed a reoccurence of a problem I thought I had fixed ( BRAKE SQUEAL)
I have had a mechanic who specialises in british auto's change the brake pads, however I am reluctant to take the rangie back to him as the last visit cost $2500 and I am not entirely sure what they fixed.
This is my First contact with Land Rover's and I don't yet fully understand the vehicle.
4WDriving would be more enjjoyable without the SQUEALS from the brakes I'm sure.
Anyone had this problem before is so how do I put an end to this problem???

G'day Jason and welcome to the Forum.
Try some Brake Squeal goo behind the pads.
The squeal is a high pitch resonation between the pads and the disk. The goo insulates this and in most cases eliminates the noise.
Try getting the disks skimmed as well. Mobile brake guys will usually charge about $150 for 4 disks and they come to you.

G'day .
It's usually a very small stone picked up on the track .
Reverse 10 metres - - normally dislodges it .
