V8i to 300Tdi Conversion

G'day Guys,

Ive got a 94 V8i Disco with very bad fuel consumption. I am pretty keen to stick a 300Tdi in her for better fuel consumption and so I dont have to carry 3 jerry cans when I do a trip.

How easy do the deisels go into the series 1?? Does anyone know someone who does the conversion or anyone who has had the conversion done. Just wondering how many dollars would be involved???

Cheers
Danno

it is easier to buy another unit

engine mounts, computer, electrical, springs, and the list goes on....

aint worth the heartache....

is the reason i sold my v8 and got a diesel instead of converting..

The govenor in the auto is what is different, it's in the extension housing on the main shaft, this alters the shift points

V8 to Tdi

Hi

I have just traded my 94 V8 petrol guzzler for a 1997 Tdi and could not be happier ! DO NOT BOTHER WITH ENGINE SWAPPING

We traded up because of the fuel bill doing about 600 km per week it got pretty expensive. Even with some specialist tunning our best was 450 km per tank. Now I am getting 800 plus and have not tried some tunning tricks yet

To my urprise the wife loves the Tdi (bit of a petrol head, loved the acceleration and sound of the V8) but now tells me she loves the sound of the TRUCK !!!
