    Centre diff lock

Hi all I have just tryed to order a centre diff lock actuation conversion kit for my D2 td5 from ashcroft transmissions but they are no longer in stock. Can anyone suggest were I can get one from? Or has one for sale at a decent price.
    Cheers matt

    CDL

Hi, is your car manual or automatic?
I can pick up a Disco one, one from Upullit in SA, around $40 but only if it is the right transmission.
An auto one requires a bit of surgery to the centre floor panel (to realign the auto cable past the new CDL lever) whereas a manual is fairly straight forwards, you just have to cut a round hole to allow lever movement.
I have fitted one to my 2000 Disco auto, the only slight drawback is, being a lever operation rather than cable it does transfer some noise, I don't care it works well.

    Regards

    Mike

I think Triumph Rover Spares has them in stock for $570 or $590 I can't remember how much.

    I found mine on Gumtree...

I first looked at the Ashcroft ones but they are open at the bottom so noise and water is a problem (new ones have a boot??)

I went for a factory one from a D2A because it is sealed from the bottom and bolts in. Only a slight mod to the gear plate.

Hi Mike have you got any pics of this fitted? I have a 1999 D2 manual with cdl hardware in the transfer case $40 sounds much more in my price range than $500 plus for the D2a version

    D1 CDL-D2, Designosaur

    Hi Designosaur,
I will take a picture, but it will be in a week or so, I'm up to my eyeballs with stuff at the moment (who said you've nothing to do when you retire?).
For the manual, centre console out, pop rivets around tunnel section, lift up and disconnect the Hi/Lo lever and cable, centre where cut out needs to be (only a forward back slit in Hi/Lo), cut with hole saw, the (mine did) lever comes with the boot that will seal the hole well if I can find all the right bits.
Of course all this depends on there being the right parts available at Upullit.

    Cheers

    Mike

All good Mike, I went googling after seeing your comment that you could make the D1 item fit. Found some info on Urban Panzer's D2 site

Just got to prowl the wreckers now!

I didn't know that this was a possibility till I saw your comments, thanks
