Hi, for a start, you will have to swap your rear housing section ...... to keep your speedo

You will also need to swap input and output flanges due to size difference.

    hi,
yep done it on my defender 200tdi, just have to remove the electronic speedo drive from the transfer and replace with yours, also remove the anti vib chunk of weight from transferbox. i found that there was no difference in the out put shafts. i'v been running this set up for 2 years and the only problem was speedo out by 10 ks at a 100.. cheers wally

There is no speedo output on a Disco II transfer case (what I assume the OP is talking about). You must have used a Disco I transfer case.

Just make sure the D2 case has the CDL internals or you will need to swap the front housing from your Defender too, otherwise as said, you need to swap your front output flange and rear output housing only.
The rest is a direct fit.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Its really appreciated.
I have just bought a 95 defender and I have a td5 disco with a recon transfer with ashcroft h/d pins. As o/hauling is quite expensive I was considering putting the disco2 transfer into the defender and purchasing a s/h unit to put back into the disco. I will be selling the disco once the defender is finished.
    Thanks.
    Michael.

Disco and Defender have different high range gear ratios.
