TRS090.prefer a modern variable capacity pump if you can find one but there are very rare versions of these TR090-105 with a low pressure return port to allow oil to return at high revs without hydrolic lock.
Scroll pump that requires to be spun at higher speeds, they can expode. if they freeze up or flood back liquid to the compressor. so a good pressure switch is required-holden use an acumilator.
the pulley bearings support is mostly alloy type not suited to driving under water they have a sanden pad hose fittings so EA-XF falcon or aftermarket
hoses are tidy conversion. you wont need anything bigger than a A or a 4PK. pajero use a 11A belt.
very common on 80-90 Australian cars, very good for fuel economy. mitubishi and rodeo with locally suppled kits.
fitted plenty of these to cars complaining about loss of power and over heating at low RPM.
P/S
my favourite compressor was Korean Harrison[Delphi] 9 inch variable capacity pump. sold on hundreds of cars and thrown away when it leaks industrial a/c units in Europe had these with same size mountings as a TAMA/sanden and GM pad manifold, temperature and pressure warning switches.
cant find any online tonight.

Well dave you obviously know what your talking about. I don't know if it makes any difference but its going in a soft dash rangie which I presume has the same aircon as the update disco 1.
If you can find/recommend a compressor for me then that will be so much easier, I was just going to make the sanden one fit, then buy a new version of it.
It will have to be a single belt job though

Trs090 won't fit, all the fittings are in the wrong places, 508 is the easiest to fit for me and to get access to the plumbing

landrover 4bd1 had double 11A belt [imperial 7/16?] tensioner was V pulley,.It was an excentic ider that often falls off.
it was easier to replace these with a back idler-flat pulley and good brand of belt.the belts must be matched if not they hit together and flick off.
when I have replaced these I use a single 13A belt as it sits in the pulley. B or 15A is over kill, some fridge units use this to reduce service cost.
Isuzu trucks. done lots of fridge trucks with sanden or TAMA [diesel kiki-Zexel] .left hand front. simple bracket most use a sliding tensioner hanging low.some actually move the compressor to tension. often you have to change the engine crank pulley.
disco1 .1993 V8- it has a 508 same as 7H15. these run very fast on landrover often too fast. they use a large volume so they can sit idling in the desert-and don't need it so large.
1994 3.9 has a pad mount denso compressor .cheep easy to modify and most other bands are using the same dimentions. halla etc.it uses a better condencor so it last longer.
service valves on disco should be on the pipes.
TRS090 can be rotated with ports up. I would thought there was room between the alternator. 110 had rear ports that was hard to get at with the wing on.

you can cut the ears of the compressor.
to get clearance on truck chasis they often fit at 45 degree and cut to inner-out ears off.
then you hang on the top and adjust on the bottom. 110 had very little room so im guessing your in the same boat.
some pad mount compressor you bolt it to 2 flat plate and piviot the braket.using 3 bolt.

So if i was to use my (or a new version) 508 and set it up just using 1x13A belt with a sliding tensioner set up this would be ok??

13A should be heeps. With car servicing you try to fit belts every 2-3 years and commercial vehicles every year.
what you have to do is keep the head pressure down. recent engineers go for big head pressures so they can get maximum heat exchange.
The rubber coupling quiet sanden clutch keep it around 150 PSI or use the steel only disc.
