    Defender TD5 Tacho

To those who've been there done that.
Did you fit it yourself and if so anything to lookout for. I have a VDO unit from Lowtension UK. Landed cheaper than can be bought here.

The fitting destructions appear simple enough.

If anyone has a unit fitted did you need to check the calibration for accuracy. In any event a listing of revs at 60 and 80 in 4th and at 80 and 100 in 5th would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Self-fitted. Just look for pin 18 from memory and splice into it. A friend's '01 TD5 has the white/grey wire in the dash, my '04 TD5 didn't. Consider moving the temp and fuel gauge over by one hole. Mine was calibrated by a friend, wasn't far out. There's a little knob to turn to adjust it. Turbo should kick in just under 1500, idle below 1000, 2900 at 110, all from memory.

    Thanks Bob

I was a tad nervous at the prospect of having the ECU go into meltdown.

Sounds simple enough ... even for a simpleton like moi.

    Cheers

It's not too hard. I would disconnect the battery and take all the usual precautions though. LR will do it for you, it's actually a factory option.
