Thread: Has anyone used the bubble style insulation

Yes I used it on my house and a similar product on my shed, works great (particularly the shed), not sure I'd bother on a defender though, I'd use the dynamat

I install it in heaps of sheds and it works well for that application. Technically there is supposed to be an airgap (40mm IIRC) for it to work correctly. As such, I cannot see how this will work in a vehicle.

As Vern suggested, use Dynamat.

I've had this stuff in kombis before and well its probably not the greatest stuff but at the time it was given to me so price was right used a few layers of it and depending on what you want it for it can be great but as others have said in a vehicle application I dont think it is that great.
However I did find something in clark rubber the other week for insulation purposes which may suit your needs its a matting similiar to dynamat I guess without the pricetag foam with a silver reflective side comes in adhesive or non adhesive forms and multiple thicknesses I got 10mm looking on clark rubber site I cant find the stuff but I did just go searching for the reciept for it and I found it.
Its called foamshield item number is 17816 I got the 10mm adhesive back at $34 I belive it may have meant to be $40 but they gave me a discount instead of ordering in non adhesive like I wanted.

Its designed for thermal insulation and not sound deadening.

It is useful as the active content of a canvas fridge bag but I wouldn't be using it for the Defender.
